Anyone? Anyone? I'm clueless as to how to use it and why. And yet I see that everyone has a facebook page/website/account ... whatever. What is it? Why do you like it? Do you use it often? More than blogging? Or email?
I feel like such a dinosaur! I still remember when I had a problem with Yahoo groups. I was so resistant to join my homeschooling's Yahoo group back in "the woods." I finally had to because people were getting tired of calling me! LOL!!
Am I missing out on something by not doing Facebook? Please do share!

I love facebook. You create an account. I have used my first name, maiden name, and current last name. I have had friends contact me from grade school and high school from all over the place. I love that.
I got it because I had a teen that wanted one. Now working with Lifeteen at STAOP I think it is a great tool for all adults to keep tabs on the teens in their lives. I visit it a few times a day.
I don't spend much time on it now but at first I did. Now I just return messages from old friend and check up on the kiddos. It is a great tool for keeping in touch across the way. It is more conducive to conversations as opposed to blogging.
I post pictures to share with friends on FB. More private than blogging, you must be a friend to see. I don't find that one replaces the other.
Now famous people set up FB pages to push causes and such. The young people are all over this. It started as a college thing and then opened up. Hard to describe.
With young one approaching the teens years in your life I would recommend it. My friends are my kiddos friends and often catch stuff that my kiddos post. They will tell me later. It is a great layer of adults and teens. While still being private.
It does not replace blogging. You only "post" a sentence or two on what you are doing. Ease into it slowly and you will like it. Sorry to talk so much.
FB is okay. I've mostly found people from high school and we said hello once and then that was it. I mostly talk to the folks I normally talk to all the time anyway. And YES, it's a confusing tool to me. They keep changing the layout and I think it's hard to use!
I am not very techy...I have never tweeted or even texted, but I like FB a lot. I created an account in October and didn't see the point. I didn't log in again until about February, then got hooked. Once you are 'confirmed' friends with someone, you can look at who their friends are and you are likely to find tons of other people you know. Then it's just fun to watch and join in on comments and conversations between everyone.
I was overwhelmed for the first week (in Feb) when lots of people started finding me. Then it slows down. I am not signing in as much since Oliver arrived, but it is how I've been making plans to meet local moms, etc lately. Who needs a phone now, right?
I just sent you a 'friend request'. Have fun :)
Great to get in contact with people but it eats up tons of time.
It's nice to find old friends, but it can be a time waster... I'll use it more often as the kids enter adolescence, assuming that is the method they keep in touch with their friends! :)

OK, I don't want to be a naysayer, but I am purposely staying away from FB! I have heard too many stalker-type stories. And I have already had some people from HS contact me via email through others they have found on FB, and they always seem NOT to be the ones I wish I could hear from again. There are plenty of other technological ways to stay in touch in my opinion, AND you can be more selective about who!
