"Oh, Mom! Will you print that out for me?" asked Kolbe as he was peeking over my shoulder.
He was looking at this picture.
Of course, I obliged. He is now practicing his drawing. LOL!

Beautiful Art About Life in a Large Family (21 Children !!!!)
I realize I've not been blogging too much lately. I won't hide the fact that I'm an emotional mess right now. It doesn't seem to be a Monday thing. Some people get post partum depression. I seem to tend towards pre-partum. But I hate to whine about it. So just know that my blog entries will be few and far between.
But just wanted to share (and I've been wanting to link to this for months and months now) a beautiful website that gives me hope and helps me remember why I should be joyful ...... my faith and my family.
This website was done as a homeschooling project by some girls of a mother on my MODG Yahoo loop. They interviewed and built a website about a lady who painted pictures of her life as part of a VERY large family.
The paintings are beautiful and the descriptions are inspiring. Very Catholic, very pre-modern. Paintings about a simpler way of life (in some aspects) that we just don't see anymore. I frequent this website when ever I feel like I've lost perspective.
Anyways, enjoy. And keep me in your prayers. I'm sure all my crying and screaming and crying is not good for baby or my kiddos.
And pray that I can just let go of my perfectionism. Some women enjoy their nesting while my nesting drives me insane because it doesn't ever feel like I will get it all done. Or like my cherubs will leave my organized spaces alone. They seem to gravitate towards them!!!!
Anyways, no more whining. Go see this website. I'm sure back then women didn't obsess about the minor things I seem to think about.

Anna's Poetry Illustration
Every year the kids learn and memorize poetry. After they have learned a poem they illustrate and even copy it (if ability allows). Well, last year Anna never got around to illustrating or copying her favorite poem. So this week we did some catch up.
Here is her illustration for "The Song of Mr. Toad" by Kenneth Grahame. She's illustrating the third stanza. Ignore the wild, green markings. Unfortunately, she left her notebook out and a certain little brother took a crayon to her fine work. He got in trouble and she eventually stopped crying. I'll fix it with wite-out later. But I digress...... Here is her work:

I think those are supposed to be Toucan birds (ala Froot Loops) on top of the ark! LOL!! The animals are crying and Mr. Toad is on the right.
Laugh of the Day
Today Kolbe had to narrate & illustrate his Bible story. I read to him about the Garden of Eden. The last sentence REALLY stuck out to him. It was something to the effect of: "They were naked without shame."
Kolbe immediately said, "I know what I'm drawing!! I'm going to draw the boy naked with his body tail and the girl naked with her nurses."
I almost choked on my water (which I'm not drinking enough of).
He did draw the woman but thankfully he's a very poor drawer AND he didn't ask me to label any body parts! LOL!!

I know, I know .... he should learn the proper anatomical terms so he doesn't grow up confused and messed up ..... yada... yada ... yada.

Catherine's First Haircut
I've had it!!! I swore I wasn't going to cut Catherine's hair. I said I wasn't going to give her any bangs. I dread that growing out period. But I just remembered why I end up chopping all my girls' hair ...... its a sticky mess most of the time.
Catherine has hit that age where everything she eats (oatmeal, lollipops, yogurt, applesauce, lollipops, ice cream, etc.) makes it into her hair. And this is usually by noon. So she is always a sticky mess. WHY? Because I was refusing to cut her hair. So she spent all day wiping her hair out of her face, with her crummy, dirty, chubby, adorable, little hands.
This is how she normally looks ....

Notice all the hair in her face. Now just add something sticky to it and you have the Catherine I'm used to.
Here she is now:

It's not the best haircut but its an improvement over what she normally looks like. I'll tell you tomorrow if it works! LOL!
She didn't want to stand still and pose. I thought it only appropriate that she stand next to her latest work of art. Yeah, that's the first wall you see when entering our lovely home.
